Fall is coming!

WOW it is almost fall...in fact today there is rain in the air and it is a first cool day in a while.  I know it is coming and when it does, I think of baking.  Casseroles, pies, cookies, cakes, anything new and interesting.  This also means that I need to plan the next session of Addie's Kitchen for my church "freezer meals" session.  Last night I tried a Steak Diane recipe in the crockpot and a version of green bean casserole with cheese.  They were both pretty good, but didn't get the thumb's up from my hubby and he of course has to approve the final recipes.  Tonight it's a chicken casserole (chicken with a creamy sauce including mushroom soup and white wine)....if it looks good I'll post a picture....

Ok...now I hear the rain....time to bake!

What's Next

So June is our last month of Addie's Kitchen/Freezer Meals before the summer.  I'm working on a menu now.  Always the last month/June is our grilling session.  So far I have a few ideas:

• Grilled Green Chile Pepper Stuffed Steak - can I find Green Chiles before the session?
• Orange Adobo Chicken - Yummm!
• Drunk and Dirty Steaks
• Balsamic and Rosemary Grilled Mixed Vegetables

Still working on some other recipes, but those are a start....Anyone have some really good grill recipes for me to try?

So we made freezer meals on January 26th. 34 people joined us and we had a really awesome time making over 700 servings and 36 dozen cookies in about 2.5 hours. Here's our menu:

• Penne in Cream Sauce with Cream - Once a Month Cooking Family Favorites by Mimi Wilson and Mary Beth Lagerborg - my family loved this one and it was a hit at a recent Super Bowl Party
• Zesty Italian Melts - Not Your Mother's Make-Ahead and Freeze Cookbook by Jessica Fisher
• Chicken with Artichoke Hearts - The Cotton Country Collection - 1972 Junior Charity League, Monroe Louisianna - we included mushrooms
• Beef Roast - Everything Freezer Meals Cookbook by Candace Anderson
• Barbecued Chicken - The Cotton Country Collection - 1972 Junior Charity League, Monroe Louisianna
• Amy's Seven Vegetable Casserole - The Junior League Centennial Cookbook - BTW, this is one of my FAVORITE cookbooks!
• Chocolate Coconut Oatmeal Cookies - A Peak at the Springs - Junior League Cookbook

Now it's time to test new recipes to get ready for the next session...I'll try to post some pictures/info here.
