WOW it is almost fall...in fact today there is rain in the air and it is a first cool day in a while. I know it is coming and when it does, I think of baking. Casseroles, pies, cookies, cakes, anything new and interesting. This also means that I need to plan the next session of Addie's Kitchen for my church "freezer meals" session. Last night I tried a Steak Diane recipe in the crockpot and a version of green bean casserole with cheese. They were both pretty good, but didn't get the thumb's up from my hubby and he of course has to approve the final recipes. Tonight it's a chicken casserole (chicken with a creamy sauce including mushroom soup and white wine)....if it looks good I'll post a picture....
Ok...now I hear the rain....time to bake!

So June is our last month of Addie's Kitchen/Freezer Meals before the summer. I'm working on a menu now. Always the last month/June is our grilling session. So far I have a few ideas:
Addie
- Grilled Green Chile Pepper Stuffed Steak - can I find Green Chiles before the session?

Yummm!
So we made freezer meals on January 26th. 34 people joined us and we had a really awesome time making over 700 servings and 36 dozen cookies in about 2.5 hours. Here's our menu:
Now it's time to test new recipes to get ready for the next session...I'll try to post some pictures/info here.
Enjoy cooking!

Enjoying the June Freezer Meals food
So tonight we ate the New Orldeans Flank Steak from June's session. I nuked some red potatoes in the microwave and then finished them off with butter and some no salt seasoning in the toaster oven (broil setting). We had a green salad and Mushrooms in Red Wine sauce from the post below....YUMMY!

Summer Break
So Taco Burgers was the winner for the June 2nd Freezer Meals session. We had a lot of fun making the grill items and finished a bit early!
Now it is Summer Break! That means I get to test lots of recipes for the next session starting back up in the fall. I'll post some info here as I test.

What's for dinner? Or is it Supper?
How many people get this question. It seems to be a common dinner time question or if you grew up in an area like me "What's for supper?". Dinner versus Supper? My mom seems to always correct or confuse me with the dinner/lunch thing. That's what I get marrying someone from the east, right?
Anyway, I'm getting ready for a freezer meals and have to post my menu by Sunday....so tonight I told my husband we're trying two burger recipes and he has to pick the best one, right? He said "you mean I have to eat 2 burgers?" I just laughed and said "2 halves". Me the practical one....
Here's a sample menu I have going for the next freezer meals...details to be finalized on Sunday:
Creamy Frozen Lime Mini Pies
New Orleans Flank Steak
Addie's Version of Dolly Parton's Cowboy Beans
The Only Marinade You'll Ever Need Chicken
Cranberry Turkey Burgers
Firecracker Salmon
Cilantro-Lime Grilled Chicken tacos
Grilled Pork Loin Chops
The debate or test tonight is between:
Taco Burgers
or
Herb & Cheese Stuffed Burgers
Fun, right? I'll keep you posted!

Girl Meets Grill
So Addie's Kitchen/Freezer Meals is still going strong. We made interesting foods last time and I have a list of about 20 recipes to try before the next one on June 2nd which is our last before we take a summer break. This one is typically grill recipes....what to make, what to make, hmmm? I think I have a pretty good chicken marinade....and maybe a Firecracker Salmon? Then I found a Bourbon Flank Steak recipe with a couple of others to try....For dessert, I am debating on these yummy Chocolate and White Chocolate Macadamia nut cookies...or as something really new for us I was thinking of maybe a freezer type pie. My mom used to make this cherry, pineapple and jello type pie...very good. Not sure if it would freeze well? Hmmmm any recommendations?
